Buccaneer Basketball Hosting Red-Black Scrimmage Saturday
On Saturday at 4:00 pm, the Glendive community will get their first chance to see the DCC Men’s Basketball Team. The Bucs will host their Red-Black scrimmage at 4:00 pm on Saturday evening at the Toepke Center. The festivities will start with a 3 point contest pitting the best sharp-shooters against each other in an epic showdown. The team will then split up for a 40 minute intra-squad scrimmage. At half-time, the high flying Bucs will take to the air to perform their best aerial acrobatics in a slam dunk contest.
Dawson is returning 9 players from a team that went 23-3 last year and captured the conference championship, region championship, district championship and made an appearance at the National Tournament for the first time in the program’s 63 year history. The Bucs return 79% of their scoring and 73% of their rebounding from last year’s team and have added some new pieces to the puzzle.
The regular season will begin with a home game on November 1. Then the Bucs will travel to New Town, ND for the Mon-Dak Preseason Tournament November 5-7. On the following two weekends (Nov 13-14 and 20-21) Dawson will have conference games against the four teams they didn’t play in the Preseason Tournament. Two of those games will be at home and two on the road. The teams and locations will be determined on November 7th. All of those 7 games will count towards the overall conference standings.
