Two is Better than One
It was double trouble during last week’s conference play. There were two Buccaneers from Dawson Community College selected as Mon-Dak Conference Player of the Week.
Representing men’s basketball, DeAngelo Horn, a 6'5" freshman forward from Aurora, Colorado who attended Rock Canyon High School. Horn is the 5th different player for the Bucs who has been named player of the week. During a 3-0 conference week for the Buccaneers while shooting 83% from the field, he scored 47 points, had 20 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, and 5 blocked shots in 52 minutes of play. He almost averaged a point per minute played. In last Thursday’s game against Bismarck State, he was a perfect 10-10 from the field. He also didn’t miss a 3-pointer or a free throw in the entire week.
Horn’s Buccaneers are 20-5 on the season and in 2nd place in the conference.
As for the women, this will be Brianna Bergum’s second player of the week honor. Brianna is a 5'10" redshirt-freshman. While playing three conference games and a 2-1 week, she scored 41 points (65% from the field), had 27 rebounds, 4 assists, and 8 steals.
Brianna is from Garniell, Montana and she attended Tri-Cities High School.
