NDSCS Gets Revenge over Dawson on 2nd night
After a dramatic 3 point victory on Saturday afternoon over the North Dakota State College of Science Wildcats, the Dawson Community College Buccaneers had to play them again on Sunday in Wahpeton, ND.
The Bucs kept the Wildcats shooting in check for the first half again, holding them to 1-10 from 3 point range. Mike Jok connected on a 25 footer at the buzzer to give DCC a 9 point halftime lead 39-30. But in the second half, the home team finally started connecting and they turned a double digit deficit into a double digit win 83-71 by shooting 10-13 from the 3 point line. They got the win despite only shooting 37% for the game.
Dawson Coach Joe Peterson commented, “They are a good team with balance and good depth. They have some knockdown shooters that we were able to hold in check yesterday and through the first half today, but we left them free a couple of times in the second half and they gained confidence and we didn’t have an answer.”
Anthony Ignowski had a game high 23 points for NDSCS. Kennedy Brown led Dawson with 14 points and 7 rebounds. Charles Lampten added 10 points ans 11 rebounds.
Dawson is now 10-2 and still in first place in the conference. They will return home for back to back games with Lake Region State College on Wednesday and Thursday. NDSCS is 9-3 and in 2nd place. They will travel to Miles Community College for back to back games this week.
