Softball Opens with Four Wins
This past week, the Lady Bucs went and played two games in Williston and three games in Aberdeen, SD.
On Thursday, DCC Softball opened up in a big way against Williston. Winning the first game 8-0 and the second one 16-0. Together, the team posted a .469 batting average, with 23 hits, five doubles, 21 RBI's and seven stolen bases. Oakley Clark led the charge with a .667 batting average, four hits, two doubles, and one triple. On the mound, the three pitchers threw to a total of 35 batters, only allowing one hit in both games.
In Aberdeen, the Bucs played Central Lakes, Lake Region State, and North Dakota Science. Finishing the weekend 2-1, with a loss against NDSCS. Overall, their run differential after the five games was 46-14 in their favor.
Some of the team leaders that emerged over the last few games have been Zalia Carrillo, Jenna Lloyd and Madison Buckley. All three freshmen posted over a .550 batting average, with a combined total of 19 hits, two doubles, and Madison had two homeruns.
Allie Anderson threw a no hitter against LRSC, finishing the weekend with a .808 ERA, three wins and 31 strikeouts.
Head softball coach, Casey-May Huff, had this to say about their opening weekend, "It was nice to get out and play to see where we are at. There were a lot of great moments this past weekend, especially with some of the freshmen. Now we have to go to work this week to prepare for four more games this weekend."
The Lady Bucs will be on the road this Friday to play another four game tournament in Jamestown, ND.
