Pitcher from New Mexico Signs with Softball
The Buccaneers recently announced the commitment of right handed pitcher and outfielder, Dallas Bencomo. She will be joining the Buccaneers this upcoming Fall of 2026.
Bencomo, the daughter of Antonio Bencomo and Jennifer Castillo of Las Cruces, NM, will graduate from Mayfield High School in May.
Just this year, Dallas was nominated Second Team All-District for her high school. She hit nine homeruns throughout this past season, finishing with a .368 batting average and attaining a slugging percentage of .897.
When asked why she chose Dawson, Dallas said, "When I started my search for a school to play at, I wanted to find a school that was competitive and would push me to grow as a student athlete. That's what I see in Dawson. As a pitcher, it is exciting to see what Coach Huff has done with her pitchers at Southwestern Community College, Dakota College at Bottineau, and now at Dawson. I strive to compete in everything I do and I believe Coach Huff creates an environment I can do this in. The welcoming environment that the team displayed made me want to be a part of the Dawson family.
Head softball coach, Casey-May Huff, had this to say about her, "Dallas is exactly what we were looking for in building a pitching staff for next season. She brings it on the mound! She comes from a great family, one that we are very excited to have join our Dawson family here. The sky's the limit for this one . . . I am looking forward to working with her for the next two years!
