Buccaneers Sign Jared Anderson from Utah
Jared Anderson signed to play basketball for the Dawson Buccaneers next season. The 6'3 175 lb guard is from Green Canyon High School in North Logan, Utah. He graduated in 2024 and has been serving as a missionary in Mexico City, Mexico for the past two years. In his senior year he averaged 17.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game while shooting 44% from the field and 37% from the three point line. Anderson led his team to the 4A State Tournament Semifinals before losing to the eventual state champions.
"Jared is going to be a great piece of our team next year," explained Dawson Coach Joe Peterson. "He will bring some toughness, maturity and leadership along with his ability to shoot and score. He is deceptively athletic and I think will be a great addition."
Anderson was the #1 three point shooter in Utah Class 4A his senior season and was named 1st Team All-State as well as 1st team All Tournament. His 1,273 points at Green Canyon High School places him as the all-time leader. He is also the all-time leader in assists and rebounds. He was a four year letter winner and two time captain. He played AAU ball for Next Level, Idaho Select and Utah Prospects.
Green Canyon Coach Logan Brown commented, "We are so proud and excited for Jared Anderson to play for Dawson Community College. He is going to be a great asset to the program not only as a player, but as a person too. Dawson is a winning program and they are getting a player that cares about winning. We are excited to watch him play at the next level and represent Green Canyon High School."
Anderson explained his decision, "I chose Dawson because they have a positive, winning culture. The coaching staff has been supportive and successful and have built a winning program. I'm excited to be a Buccaneer and be a part of the Glendive community."
