Dawson Community College track & field student-athlete Destiny Thompson earned NJCAA All-American honors with a 7th-place finish in the women's javelin at the 2026 NJCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Hobbs, New Mexico.
Thompson's performance on the national stage adds another milestone achievement to her career as a Buccaneer and continues the strong tradition of Dawson Community College track & field competing among the nation's best. Her determination, hard work, and competitive spirit were on full display throughout the championship competition.
"Destiny competed with tremendous heart and represented Dawson Community College exceptionally well," said Head Coach Dempster Jackson. "Earning All-American honors at the national championships is an incredible accomplishment, and we are very proud of her."
DCC sophomore Aries Lewis also competed at the national championships in the men's high jump. After earning All-American honors last season, Lewis returned to the national stage and finished 16th in the nation, once again demonstrating his consistency among the NJCAA's top high jumpers.
