Dawson Bucs Stay Undefeated in 2020

After substitutions were made, Kolten Hitt came off the bench and scored inside and then Hitt and CJ Nelson made four consecutive 3-pointers. Dakota College turned it over 23 times in the first half, leading to 31 points by Dawson. DCC connected on 12 3-pointers in the first half alone and found themselves up 64-28 at the break.
The Bucs stretched the lead to 41 points six minutes into the second half on a field goal by Devin Collins and scored 15 unanswered points to go up by 56. Dawson didn't score as much in the second half (45), but held Dakota College to 22 points to take the 109-50 victory.
Dawson posted 5 guys in double figures. Camron Dunfee led them with 16 points and 8 rebounds. Roulervee Vann had 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Jaron Masis had 13 points on 5-6 shooting. Kolten Hitt and CJ Nelson both had 12 points.
Dawson has won all five games since the start of the new year and are 4-0 in conference.
Coach Joe Peterson shared his opinion, “After a big win on the road Thursday night, I was pleased to see our guys come out still hungry. They played with a lot of effort from the opening tip and didn’t let up. It’s easy when you get up by so much early to get selfish, but I thought they were incredibly unselfish all night and looked to make the extra pass. We have a big week ahead against two really good teams on the road, so it’s nice to go into it with a little momentum.”
Dawson is on the road for three straight games. Thursday they will be at Williston, Sunday at Miles City, then following Thursday at United Tribes. Their next home game is on February 2nd vs. Bismarck State.
