Dawson Community College Athletics Seeks Nominations for Athletic Hall of Fame
Dawson Community College Athletics is inviting alumni, fans, former student-athletes, and community members to submit nominations for the Dawson Community College Athletic Hall of Fame. Nominations are accepted year-round as the college continues to recognize individuals and teams who have made a lasting impact on Buccaneer Athletics.

There are four categories for nominations:
1) Student-athlete- eligible 10 years after their final season at DCC and left in good standing.
2) Coach or Athletic Director- eligible five years after their final season at DCC
3) Contributor- someone who has shown outstanding service with longevity for DCC athletics
4) Team- eligible 10 years after the season they competed
The Hall of Fame is a part of DCC's mission to foster a culture of excellence, and the college is excited to honor the individuals and teams who have achieved excellence in athletics.
"The Athletic Hall of Fame is an opportunity to celebrate the rich history of Buccaneer Athletics and recognize the individuals and teams who have represented Dawson Community College with excellence," said Athletic Director Joe Peterson. "We need your help in identifying deserving candidates whose accomplishments deserve to be remembered and celebrated."
Nominations remain on file for future Hall of Fame consideration, making year-round submissions an important part of the selection process. Community members are encouraged to provide as much information as possible regarding a nominee's athletic achievements, coaching accomplishments, contributions to the athletic department, or lasting impact on Dawson Community College.
The Hall of Fame serves as a lasting tribute to the men and women who have helped build the tradition of Buccaneer Athletics through excellence in competition, leadership, sportsmanship, and service.
Dawson has inducted seven classes thus far:
Class of 2019- Don Kettner, Brad Pauley, Tom Ree, and the 1981 Rodeo Team
Class of 2020- Gary Baumann, Dr. Lois Steele, Kaila Fowler-Clarke, and the 2001 Baseball Team
Class of 2022- Paul Fasting, Albert Clifford Foote, Dennis Perryman, 1970-71 Men's Basketball Team
Class of 2023- Brent Diegel, Don Mast, Larry Peabody, and the 2001 Softball Team
Class of 2024- Doug Frederick, Greg Barnett, Mike Wilondek, Cheryl Van Dusen
Class of 2025- Matt Preusser, John Beard, Trish Halvorsen, Tawnya Vernon and the 1994-1996 Women's Basketball Team
Class of 2026- Janniqua Thomas, Ben Wingerter, Chuck Simonson, Bill LaFond and the 1977-1978 and 1978-1979 Men's Basketball Teams.
