DCC’s Plan for Spectators at Home Athletic Events

Dawson Community College has solidified their spectator policy for home basketball and volleyball games after the Mon-Dak Conference Board of Directors passed their COVID Protocols last week.  In preparation for the start of the conference basketball and volleyball seasons, the conference is committed to doing whatever is necessary to conduct their seasons while prioritizing the safety and health of the student-athletes.

The athletes and coaches for each team in the conference will be doing COVID testing every other week during the season and there are also several sanitation standards that every team will be required to meet while traveling and also while hosting home games.  The conference will allow spectators at home games up to 25% capacity, but no opposing team fans will be allowed.  A few schools are choosing to reduce their crowds even more and several others have chosen to have no fans at all.

To begin the season, DCC will allow up to 200 fans for a home event, but every spectator must reserve their ticket in advance.  DCC students and faculty/staff will have a specific allotment available to them and then Bucs Club members will be able to reserve games they plan on attending.  If there are any tickets still available on game day, there will be a link shared on social media for others to reserve a general admission ticket.  All tickets will need to be reserved prior to the game.  Nobody without a reservation will be allowed to walk-up at game time and purchase a ticket.

On Sunday evenings at 6:00pm each week, Bucs Club members will receive an email with a link to reserve tickets for any basketball or volleyball games that week.  If there are tickets still available after Bucs Club members have reserved their tickets, the link will be released to the public for general admission ticket reservations on game day from 8:00am-3:00pm.

Bucs Club members will be required to show their season pass as well as their ticket reservation at the door. Those that claim the remaining general admission tickets will be asked to pay $8.00 at the door.  No tickets will be sold to walk-up customers who don’t already have a reservation, and no opposing team fans will be allowed.

Bucs Club members will have priority to ticket reservations prior to the ticket reservation link being released to the public on our website and social media pages.

If you would still like to join the Bucs Club you can stop by the college, Squad Sports, Stockman Bank or Boss Office Products for a brochure or go online at the DCC Athletics website: https://dawsonbucs.com/bucs_club/index

DCC will also be doing temperature checks at the door for every person who enters and will require spectators to physically distance and wear facemasks in the gym.  The bleachers behind the team benches will be off limits for spectators.  Surfaces will be sanitized regularly and concessions will be modified to follow health guidelines.

Athletic Director Joe Peterson commented, “I know many people are excited that the basketball and volleyball seasons are finally here. We wish we could pack out the gym the way we did last February and March, but it’s just not possible at this time.  Our fans will have to get used to this new system of reserving their tickets ahead of time, but we are thankful that we are allowed to have some fans.  Hopefully this system will still allow our most loyal and supportive fans an opportunity to see their Buccaneers play.”

The basketball teams will have their first home game on January 23rd vs. Bismarck State College.  The volleyball team will have their home opener a week later on January 30th vs. Miles Community College.

Anyone with questions about tickets or Bucs Club can call Alex Chase Wolff at 406-377-9466 or email at achase@dawson.edu.
