The Dawson Community College volleyball team traveled to Williston for their first of four straight road games. The Williston State College Tetons had lost two in a row and were looking to please the home crowd. DCC entered coming off a loss against NDSCS and were looking to return to winning form.
The first set was a close affair nearly all the way through. The Tetons showed moments of brilliance, but Dawson continued to return the momentum in their favor until Williston eventually gained the final advantage. The score in the first ended at a tally of 25-21.
The second was not as competitive as the Lady Bucs could not find the same success as earlier. Williston State kept applying the pressure and eventually took the second by a score of 25-15. As DCC was trying to pick up the pace, the Tetons never let up. They easily took the third set 25-12.
Road games can be a difficult place to find energy after falling to an early deficit. “We like to feed off the other team’s mistakes, and our successful plays as well. This energy helps us proceed through the game even when we aren’t playing our best,” Erica Reynoso said. Dawson has another taste of the road when they face Dakota College at Bottineau next Thursday on the 28th of September. The Lady Bucs have two more away games following against NDSCS and Bismarck State College before DCC finally returns home on October 11th when they face these very same Tetons.
The leaders from the completed game against Williston State College were: Sam Egan with 11 assists, Erin Campbell and Lexi Joslin with 1 ace a piece, Erica Reynoso with 4 kills, Sydney Lambeth and Lexi Begger with one block. Sam Egan had 15 digs, Erica Reynoso followed closely with 14, Erin Campbell with 11, and one behind her was Sara Anderson with 10.
