In their third home game of the season, the Lady Bucs of Dawson Community College took on the Lady Mystics of Bismarck State College and fell 3-1 in the volleyball match. The Bucs came out strong in the first set and stormed their way to a 25-21 victory. But the Mystics were not going to go down easy as they tied up the match with 1 set apiece in the second set with a score of 14-25.
After the intermission, the Bucs worked hard and pushed themselves, but fell just short in the final two sets with scores of 23-25 and 20-25. This was one of the top teams in the conference and Coach Dina Fritz could not be more pleased, “I thought we came out and executed our game plan very well. We had some slip ups here and there, but I am very excited and happy with how we ended the game. There is a lot of season still left and we are improving daily so I’m ready to see how the chips will fall at the end.”
The Bucs ended the game with 45 kills with Lexi Begger having 16 of those and Channa Clarin also finishing in double digits with 11. Sam Egan ended the game with 36 assists. Defense was a major part of the success for the Bucs as they ended the game with 99 digs. Sara Anderson had 23, followed by Sam Egan with 22, Cierra Loudon 18, and Erin Campbell with 15. Erica Reynoso also added on 10 digs to get into double digits. Clarin finished with 3 blocks and Loudon had 2 to finish the contest.
The Bucs will be back in action at home at 7:00 pm on Wednesday September 13th to go up against another conference opponent in North Dakota State College of Science.
