Lady Bucs lose 1st Game of the Season

The Lady Bucs Basketball Team of DCC lost their first game of the season.  Visiting University of Jamestown JV defeated DCC 70-64.  There were 3 lead changes and 6 ties throughout the game. 

While both teams did not shoot it well from the 3 point range, but the Lady Jimmies did manage to shoot better than the Lady Bucs, shooting 49% from the field and 73% from the free throw line.  DCC shot only 37% from the field and 59% from the line.  The Lady Jimmies also had 16 solid team assists along with outrebounding DCC 40-35.  Despite Jamestown JV having 26 turnovers, the Lady Bucs could not quite gain the lead in the second half, only to tie the game in the 4th quarter at 62 points.

“The first loss is always a tough one because you care so much about your team’s success.  However, it’s good to know that we still have some improvements to work on.  Learning from our mishaps will allow us to continue to work harder in preparation,” said an optimistic Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr.

DCC had a solid 10 team steals but was suppressed by committing 24 team fouls, allowing the Lady Jimmies to capitalize from the line going 16 for 22.  Alexius Foster led the team with 17 points.  Lexia Bell-White scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds.  Ejanae Coopwood had a strong defensive effort while chipping in with 10 points.
