Dawson Wins Game 1 in District Championship
The Dawson Community College Lady Bucs are one win away from Nationals after winning 1-0 in the first game of the three game series with Kirkwood Community College of Iowa. Shelby Martin pitched a complete game shutout, striking out 6 and allowing only 5 hits in 7 innings. Kirkwood never got a runner past second base in the game. Martin also drove in the game’s only run. In the top of the first inning, her single to left center drove in leadoff batter Trinity Anderson. Martins heroics on the mound kept the Lady Bucs on top the rest of the way.

April Davis went 2-2 at the plate with a single, double and walk. Trinity Anderson was 2-4 with the game winning run.

Game 2 is starting at 4:00 pm today. If necessary, game 3 is scheduled for tomorrow at 12:00 noon. The winner of the three game series will get the automatic bid to nationals in Clinton, MS May 22-25. The Lady Bucs have never been to the D2 National Tournament.
